Friday Foto: Samsung NC10

Behold the beauty that is my new Samsung NC10 netbook. I had grand plans to vlog about it but alas, vlogging will have to wait. I got this petite powerhouse for travel and for toting around town and am madly in love with Roxie. Yes, that’s her name: Roxie. She is indeed a petite powerhouse of sass, endless energy and power. Love her.
PROS:
- Super light at 2.8 pounds. Not the lightest (some models are 2.4 lbs) but MUCH lighter than my Dell Inspirion and lighter than my Macbook.
- 10.5″ super bright LCD screen. Other models I looked at claimed to be 10.5″ but in reality, an inch of that was border around the screen.
- 1.6-GHz Intel Atom Processor
- Amazing 8-hour battery life. I’ve tested it for a full week now, and it’s always given me between a full 8 hours and 8.5 hours. There is a Special Edition Samsung NC10 coming out soon that reportedly has a 9.4-hour batter life.
- Plenty of RAM for what I will use this netbook for (1 GB RAM compared to half that on other models)
- Comes with Bluetooth, WiFi technology
- 3 USB ports
- Available in black, white, pink and blue
- Built-in webcam
- Decent sized keyboard for a netbook. I don’t have any problem typing on this, but then again, I have small fingers. I do, however, have problems typing on iPhones, which is why I refuse to get one, so typing on this keyboard is much easier than typing on an iPhone.
CONS
- Tiny touchpad with a ridiculously hard-to-tap click button, so I just do the double tap instead. The Special Edition coming out reportedly has a larger touchpad
- Must purchase an external CD/DVD drive since the netbooks are all too small to have internal ones, but that’s across the board.
- There aren’t enough cool designs for netbook skins and netbook bags yet. And yes, this is a big con for someone who is very visual and brands everything related to her business (ahem).

Very nice. I am thinking of getting one of these for my wife while she is in school getting her masters. What is the price range for these? $500 or so? Also what OS are you running on that thing?
Looks like a really good machine.
Great review – thanks for sharing! I desperately want a netbook and this is one of my top contenders. If only it was easily available in Canada!!! It would be perfect for on the road to BlogHer this summer.
